Harry Cycles 150 Miles!

On 1st July, Harry Griffin completed his 150 mile bike ride linking up all the different hospitals and healthcare centres, where respiratory consultants care for patients with lung disease who are registered at HHFT. For various distances, he was supported by a respiratory physiologist (Chloe Campbell), a respiratory consultant (Dr Alison Grove), RHCH Chaplain (Tim Laundon) and several cycling friends/family members. Throughout the day he was joined by Den Osman, a patient of Basingstoke Hospital who has a lung condition, in his Fire Engine along with lead respiratory physiologist Helen Purcell.

Furthermore, Harry was met by British Lung Foundation, patient-led groups called Breathe Easy at the various Hospitals. They have been helping him to fundraise for the North Hampshire Medical Fund and with their support, approximately £5,000 has been raised with donations continuing to come in. This money will be spent on purchasing advanced medical equipment helping patients in Hampshire with lung disease benefit from a lung function department that can now be paralleled with the country’s most prestigious hospitals.
